Our focus is helping people personally. We believe personalized training should be just that. In small group sessions, we can tailor the routine to meet different individual needs.
We tailor dynamic, functional exercise programs to meet all fitness levels. We don’t pre-script workouts, we assess how you’re feeling, how you’re moving on a day by day basis and then build routines from there to help you meet your fitness goals.

Sara Foster - Lead Trainer & Owner
Sara is an engineer turned fitness professional after realizing training clients is way more fun. A nerd at heart, she geeks out on the science behind exercise. As a result, she’s highly focused on form, posture and balance in her approach to personal training.
Sara looks to provide a fun and challenging exercise plan tailored for each client. Whether it’s in the gym, or supporting clients outside the gym for their athletic endeavors, nutrition, and overall health, she is passionate about helping clients find activities to incorporate into their lifestyle.
In her spare time, you’ll find Sara running in the streets of downtown San Diego, leading a Ragnar team, playing beach volleyball, skiing or reading.

Rachel Schutz - Lead Trainer
Rachel, the owner of Defyne Fitness, has been helping her clients achieve their fitness goals for the past 9 years as a trainer certified through the American Council on Exercise. Beyond that Rachel brings her personal knowledge and expertise as a decorated Division I track athlete and a national qualifying NPC figure competitor.
She has experience working with men and women of all fitness levels but really enjoys getting women involved in strength training, helping them to feel confident not only lifting weights but to increase their confidence about themselves and their fitness level. Her mission is to help her clients “Defyne” a new self image as well as a new vision of health and fitness as a lifestyle.
When Rachel is not designing workouts for her clients you can find her designing buildings as she is also an architect. In her spare time you can find her shopping, traveling, or attending a concert!
